Q-linea AB acquires Umbrella Science

UPPSALA, Sweden, June 30th, 2018 – Q-linea AB, a diagnostic company focused on developing and delivering solutions to accurately and rapidly diagnose infectious diseases, announced that the company has acquired Umbrella Science AB in an asset deal. The total purchase price is SEK 12.8 million.

Umbrella Science, a strategically important supplier to Q-linea, designs, develops and produces micro- and nanoplastic disposables for life science applications.

The Annual General Meetings in both Q-linea AB and Umbrella Science AB have approved the acquisition, which was closed on June 30, 2018. Operations will be included in Q-linea’s result from the same date, but the acquisition is not expected to significantly impact Q-linea’s earnings for 2018.

“We are pleased to have secured Umbrella Science’s expertise for the development and future production of our antibiotic susceptibility testing (AST) panel disc. This is a truly strategic acquisition for Q-linea, but Umbrella Science will continue to serve its other clients as part of Q-linea going forward”, said Jonas Jarvius, CEO and co-founder of Q-linea.

“Now part of Q-linea, our focus remains unchanged – to be the best development and production partner for life science applications to customers focusing on micro- and nano- plastic disposables”, said Karl Sköld, CEO Umbrella Science.
